Betwixt Christianity & Islam

Filed under: Uncategorized — hipbone @ 4:56 pm

This is one for the comparative theologians and Jungians — it is illuminating to see how Ibn ‘Arabi manages to work out a quasi-parallel to Cyril’s notion of the “theotokos”, given that Islam is unable to consider Christ — the man — as God.

Paradoxically, I find this contrast between Cyril’s Mary and Ibn ‘Arabi’s Eve to serve as a powerful marker of the distinction in “Christology” between the two traditions.
